Edwin Wong

Managing Partner & Chief Investment Officer

As founder and Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Wong oversees all investment activities at SSG and is also responsible for the general management of the firm.

Mr. Wong has over ten years of special situations experience and since 1998, he has been instrumental in the acquisition of billions of dollars of distressed assets across Asia. In the course of his investing career, he has also led numerous restructuring situations and served on many creditor steering committees.

Mr. Wong spent the majority of his career at Lehman Brothers in Hong Kong, where he was the co-founder of the Asia special situations Group. In addition, he headed the firm’s credit businesses for Asia-Pacific excluding Japan, including High Grade, High Yield and Leveraged Finance. Mr. Wong started his career at Coopers and Lybrand, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and at JP Morgan Securities Asia.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Manchester Business School and the University of Wales. Mr. Wong was born in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
